What to Expect
Before your appointment

- Wash the skin thoroughly
- Do not apply tinted moisturizers or make-up
- Shave facial and body hair as appropriate so we can clearly see your skin surface and any moles of concern
- Remove any jewelry (or leave at home)
- Tie up any hair so the skin on your face and neck are clearly visible
- Do not wear black socks or sandals. They can leave stains or lint on your skin, which can hide skin changes from view
- Wear loose-fitting clothing that does not leave marks on your skin
- Sign your mole mapping consent form (sent in your appointment reminder email)
Arrive at Spot On Skin Centre

Arrive at our office at least 15 mins before your appointment. Expect your appointment to be approximately 30-45 minutes.
Scanning
In our scanning room, you’ll undress to your comfort. Standing on a designated mat, we will guide you through a series of poses while a high-resolution camera captures images of your entire skin surface.
For the most thorough screening, we recommend being fully undressed so we can carefully examine all visible skin and ensure nothing is missed.

Zooming in on Spots of Concern
If we see any moles that stand out, we’ll take detailed close-up photos using a special tool called a dermatoscope.
This lets us examine the deeper structures of the mole that aren’t visible to the naked eye — helping us spot early signs of skin cancer with even greater accuracy.

Immediate Results
After your scan, one of our doctors will review the results with you right away — helping you understand any risks, concerns, or next steps like follow-up exams or biopsies. You’ll also receive a digital copy of your images and findings, along with a personalized plan to support your ongoing skin health.

After your results, we’ll help you prepare your next steps by booking your next follow-up scan, a biopsy, or a referral.
